International Recruiting – one element amongst many
The need for well-trained nursing staff in Germany is continually increasing, whilst in other countries, there is an oversupply of nurses. The UKS cannot meet the demand for skilled workers in the upcoming years solely through national recruiting or various training programmes.
Therefore, the recruitment of qualified foreign nurses at the UKS, particularly from third countries, is becoming increasingly significant.
In order to make the recruitment and integration process effective for all parties, the UKS has been collaborating with various partners in projects since 2019 as part of the International Recruiting:
In international recruitments, the UKS conforms to the recruitment prohibition according to the Code of Conduct of the World Health Organization (WHO)
Application process
Have you completed vocational training or a degree in nursing, midwifery or surgical assistance in your home country and already have some professional experience in this field? Then you are in the right place at UKS. Become part of the UKS team.
What should the application include
What happens after your application?
A team comprised of the Personnel Department, Nursing Directorate, and Nursing School reviews your application documents and subsequently arranges an initial introductory conversation with you – either on-site or online via MS Teams
In this conversation, we discuss your CV, your education/study and together, we explore what comes next
Have you received a confirmation of recognition
Perfect – congratulations and welcome to the UKS!
From now on, we proceed together: We will apply for your recognition/your professional license as a qualified nurse with the State Examination Office in Saarbrücken.
We will assist you in the application of your visa or your residence and work permit.
Your path to recognition and thereafter
Once you have the decree/hearing from the State Examination Office as well as the visa or a residence and work permit, you start within the context of your recognition as a nurse in a temporary employment relationship.
You will be deployed on a ward that prepares you regularly and individually for the knowledge test through practical instructors and licensed nurses.
In parallel, you will attend a German B2 nursing course. Upon passing the knowledge and B2 language test, you receive your recognition as a licensed nurse in Germany and can apply for your professional certificate.
Upon issue of the professional certificate, you receive a permanent employment contract as a nurse at UKS, and all further training and education at the in-house department are open to you.

The mentor shows and explains the formal procedures and processes on the ward, and as far as possible throughout the entire UKS, and helps them to integrate into the team.
